In order to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles and charging stations, federal, state and local governments are offering the following incentives.

Federal Incentives
Electric vehicles may be eligible for a federal income tax credit of up to $7,500. The credit amount will vary based on the capacity of the battery used to fuel the vehicle. The federal incentive for the purchase of qualified residential charging equipment - a trax credit of 30% of the cost, up to $1,000 -- expires on December 31, 2020.

Details on the federal credit for EV purchases can be found at The U.S. Department of Energy.

State Incentives
There are currently no state incentives.

Local Incentives
The Town of Normal will waive the electric permit fee for charging stations installed in Normal.

Other Incentives
Also check with your electric provider - Ameren or Corn Belt - to see if they are offering incentives.
